All the authors who are accepted to present a talk or a poster at ELT Research Conference 2010 are invited to submit a 3000-word long manuscript for the conference proceedings which will be available on the first day of the conference.

This year the conference is supported by two international journals, International Journal of Research in ELT and Journal of Theory and Practice in Education. International Journal of Research in ELT is a newly established research journal to be published by Educational Research Association http://eab.org.tr/  and will be first launched in January 2011 with selected papers/articles from the conference programme while Journal of Theory and Practice in Education http://eku.comu.edu.tr  will publish a special issue on SLA research and language teaching in 2010. These referred journals are run by professional editors and therefore have specific requirements for publishing. However, those authors who wish to publish an extended version of their conference proceedings in one of these refereed journals will be given priority.

      1. Consider the following style recommendations while writing your text:
      • Use impersonal style throughout your paper and focus on the issue, not the writer by avoiding the use of the personal pronouns ‘I’ and ‘we’.
      • Use formal vocabulary.
      • Use objective language whenever possible as you are stating facts.
      • Use markers such as ‘firstly’, ‘secondly’, and ‘finally’.
      • Use linkers such as ‘as a result’ and ‘therefore’.
      • Use any verb that can replace a phrasal verb.
      • Back up your points with reasons and examples.
      • Avoid the use of contractions (use full forms instead: e.g. do not rather than don't).
      • Avoid the use of extreme adjectives and exclamations.
      • Avoid the use of colloquial English.
    • Ensure that the first usage of abbreviations both in the abstract and the article should be spelled out (for example, English Language Teaching – ELT); and do not switch between the abbreviated and written-out forms of a term throughout your paper.
    • Avoid expressions with slashes such as ‘and/or’.
    • Start the article with an introduction and use the heading ‘Introduction’.
    • Ensure that your in-text citation and reference list match exactly.
    • Order the entries in the reference list alphabetically by the surname of the first author.
    • Order the in-text citations of two or more works within the same parentheses alphabetically by the surname of the first author.
    • Ensure that the punctuation used in your article adhere to APA format.
    • Supply your biographic information for ‘About the Author’ section (no more than 120 words for each author).
    • Ask a qualified native speaker of English to proofread your whole article for clarity of language (If not possible, ask a proficient English speaking colleague for this).
    • A sample article is available at http://eku.comu.edu.tr/index/5/2/asaricaoglu_aarikan.pdf, which is originally published in JTPE, 2009 5 (2), 110-122 (http://eku.comu.edu.tr).
